1. Who we are
SEO Perth Expert ("we", "us", "our") provides search engine optimisation, website audit and digital marketing services to businesses in Perth, Western Australia and across Australia, via the website seoperth.expert. We are committed to handling personal information responsibly and in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
This policy applies to information collected through our website, email correspondence, phone calls, quote requests, and the delivery of our SEO services.
2. Information we collect
We only collect information that is reasonably necessary to run our business and deliver SEO services. Depending on how you interact with us, this may include:
- Contact details — name, email address, phone number and business name, provided when you request a quote, book a consultation, or contact us.
- Website & business information — your website URL, industry, target keywords, and existing analytics or search console access, provided so we can carry out an SEO audit or campaign.
- Technical & usage data — IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring URL and time of visit, collected automatically through server logs and analytics tools when you browse our website.
- Billing information — invoicing and payment details where you engage us as a paying client (payment processing itself is handled by our secure third-party payment provider; we do not store full card details).
- Correspondence — records of emails, forms and calls between you and us, kept for service and record-keeping purposes.
We do not knowingly collect sensitive information (such as health or financial background details) unless you volunteer it, and only where reasonably necessary for the services requested.
3. How we use your information
We use personal information to:
- respond to enquiries and prepare quotes or SEO audits;
- deliver, monitor and report on SEO and digital marketing services;
- manage billing, invoicing and client accounts;
- improve our website, content and service offering;
- send service-related updates, and, where you have opted in, occasional news or offers; and
- meet our legal, accounting and regulatory obligations.
We do not sell, rent or lease your email address or other personal information to third parties.
6. Data storage & security
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. These steps include:
- secure, reputable hosting and encrypted connections (HTTPS) across our website;
- restricted access to client data on a need-to-know basis;
- use of reputable third-party platforms (such as Google Workspace, hosting providers and analytics tools) that maintain their own security standards; and
- regular review of our internal data-handling practices.
No method of transmission or storage over the internet is 100% secure. While we work hard to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Data breach response & ACSC reporting
We maintain a data breach response process in line with the Notifiable Data Breaches (NDB) scheme under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). If we become aware of a data breach involving personal information we hold, we will:
- Contain the breach as quickly as possible to limit further access or disclosure;
- Assess the nature and scope of the breach and whether it is likely to result in serious harm to any individual;
- Notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) where the breach is assessed as an "eligible data breach"; and
- Review our systems and processes to reduce the likelihood of a similar incident occurring again.
Cyber security incidents: Where a breach involves, or may involve, a cyber security incident (such as unauthorised system access, ransomware, or a phishing compromise), we will also report the incident to the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) via cyber.gov.au/report or by calling the Australian Cyber Security Hotline on 1300 CYBER1 (1300 292 371), in addition to our obligations under the NDB scheme.
If you believe your personal information has been compromised, or you notice suspicious activity connected to your dealings with us, please contact us immediately using the details in Section 15.
8. Your rights & how to access your data
Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:
- request access to the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct any information that is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete;
- ask how your information has been collected, used or disclosed; and
- opt out of marketing communications at any time (via the unsubscribe link in our emails, or by contacting us directly).
We will respond to access and correction requests within a reasonable timeframe, generally within 30 days, and free of charge unless the request is excessive or repetitive.
9. Data retention
We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law (for example, tax and accounting records are generally retained for at least five years). Information that is no longer required is securely deleted or de-identified.
10. Overseas disclosure
Some of the third-party platforms we use (for example, cloud hosting, email and analytics providers) may store or process data on servers located outside Australia, including in the United States. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure those providers apply data protection standards consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.
11. Children's privacy
Our services are directed at businesses and adults, not children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under the age of 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
12. Links to other websites
Our website may contain links to third-party websites, including client sites, tools and resources referenced in our SEO reports and articles. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those external websites, and we encourage you to review their own privacy policies.
13. Complaints
If you have concerns about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first using the details below so we can investigate and resolve the matter. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or by calling 1300 363 992.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal obligations. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
