What is the difference between push marketing and pull marketing is a question asked? I don’t do email marketing. I’d earn more money if I did but it is not ethical marketing in my opinion. I hate getting spam so I don’t inflict it. Long ago I made the choice not to do “push marketing”. It goes against the philosophy of “pull marketing” strategies like SEO.

Push marketing involves receiving unsolicoted marketing. It is also know as “direct marketing“.

Push marketing can involve spam email and other forms of direct marketing like snail mail box stuffing. Marketing material is forced upon you. I hate it. I don’t want trees cut down to produce flyers stuffed in my letterbox.
When I’m at a shop, I don’t like being pushed to buy a computer for sale by high pressure sales staff.
One of the most hated forms of push marketing are time thief telemarketer callers I don’t know. As soon as I don’t hear a proper phone caller’s introduction or do hear call centre background chatter, I hang up and block/report the phone number as spam.
WHAT IS PULL MARKETING?
Pull marketing is connecting your sales and marketing information with a potential customer searching for what you sell. They are pulled to your brand/product because of a good pull marketing strategy.
WHAT ARE EXAMPLES OF PULL MARKETING?
For example, if I want a propt Perth roof repair service, I’ll use a search engine to find it and when I need it.
When I’m searching for a window cleaner near me in Perth, I’ll google “window cleaner near me”, or “window cleaner” and the name of the suburb I’m in. Then I’ll see their Google My Business on the right-hand side of Google SERPs or their GMB listing in and just under Google Maps.

Push marketing is when direct marketing is pushed onto you. Pull marketing is when you’re searching for something and are attracted to their marketing information. A pull promotional strategy is an ethical marketing strategy. The target market searches and finds your brand/marketing material when they are open minded and ready to receive it.
Social media marketing is a form of peer-to-peer buzz marketing.
